The Welsh Government yesterday, 17 March, issued a statement confirming they have laid the Public Health (Protection from Eviction) (No.2) (Wales) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 (‘the No.2 Regulations’).

These regulations replicate the Public Health (Protection from Eviction) (Wales) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021, and will extend the current restrictions on evictions, which are due to expire on 31 March, to the end of June 2021, The restrictions will, as with other Coronavirus restrictions, be subject to regular review during that time.

The updated Regulations will include the same exceptions as in the previous period and sit alongside the wider health regulations.

The requirement for landlords to provide six-month notice periods to tenants before they evict will also be extended to 30 June 2021, meaning that most renters now served notice can stay in the property until at least December 2021, except in relation to anti-social behaviour and domestic violence.
